Self-Adhesive Smart Film (PDLC)

Share:

Dual Functionality: Privacy and Transparency

The Self-Adhesive Smart Film can be applied directly to glass surfaces. It remains opaque (frosted) when powered off and transforms to transparent when powered on, fulfilling the dual needs for glass transparency and privacy. This unique switching capability achieves a visual effect that traditional curtains and blinds simply cannot match.

Innovative Rear-Projection Capabilities

This smart film also serves as a high-performance rear-projection screen, significantly enhancing color saturation. Even in its transparent state, it can display projected content to create a "floating image" effect, making it an ideal choice for diverse projection engineering and artistic stage performances.

Interactive Commercial and Advertising Applications

Beyond basic displays, the film can be applied to large-scale projection advertising walls. When paired with a touch-enabled projector, it transforms into an oversized interactive touch screen. Furthermore, by integrating motion-sensing cameras, its applications become even more versatile—ranging from smart department store windows and virtual fitting rooms to large-scale interactive motion games. The overall scope of application is remarkably extensive.

Power Off

The self-adhesive smart film is composed of a protective layer, ITO (Indium Tin Oxide), and AB adhesive, allowing it to be applied directly onto existing glass surfaces. In its powered-off state, it remains in an opaque (frosted) state, effectively blocking outside view to provide enhanced space privacy.

Power On

When powered on, the smart film switches to a completely transparent state. This self-adhesive model is specifically engineered for users who already have glass installed, allowing them to achieve the sophisticated effect of smart glass simply by purchasing and applying the film.

Versatile Control Options

You can choose from a variety of control methods to suit your needs, such as remote controls, wall switches, or mobile apps.

Q1: Why does the smart film look slightly hazy from certain angles?

A1: The hazy appearance at certain angles is due to the inherent nature of PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal). The transition between transparent and opaque states is achieved by rearranging the alignment of liquid crystal molecules. According to the principles of physics, the film is most transparent when viewed at a 90-degree angle. As the viewing angle approaches 180 degrees, the line of sight passes through more of the internal molecular structure, resulting in a milky white appearance and a slight hazing effect.

Q2: How should I maintain and clean the smart film?

A2: To ensure longevity, we recommend sealing all four edges with neutral silicone during installation to prevent erosion from moisture or debris. During daily use, please avoid collisions with other objects, as any physical damage will result in a permanent frosted spot that cannot be restored to transparency even when powered on. Damaged areas cannot be repaired and require a complete replacement of the film.

For routine cleaning:

  • Dusting: Use a feather duster to gently remove surface dust.

  • Wiping: Do not use any chemical cleaners, as they may corrode the film. Simply use a small amount of clean water with a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the surface gently.
